The 30 best restaurants were determined by a foreign jury, which judged 60 restaurants throughout Latvia.

The 30-best restaurants were determined in various stages. First of all, a vote from the restaurant sector was held, where over 200 professionals from the Latvian restaurant sector expressed their opinions. After this, 60 restaurants throughout the country were selected, which were then evaluated in three stages by an experienced foreign jury.

  • Lithuanian and Estonian chefs judged only the 60 restaurants during the first assessment stage,
  • the foreign jury then assessed 50 restaurants during the second stage,
  • but in the third stage – 40 restaurants.

While visiting and judging the various restaurants, the jury granted points for the food served, beverages, service and atmosphere:

  • 80 points for food,
  • 40 points for service,
  • 40 points for beverages,
  • 40 points for atmosphere.

200 was the maximum number of points a restaurant could be granted. As the final result the average number of points from all three stages was calculated.

Jury members conducted their work individually, and the restaurants were not informed of their visits.
